Tonight, 'Recycling: What's the Point?'
ITV’s Tonight programme is looking for neighbouring households in the UK to take part in a new documentary exploring what really happens to our household recycling, and how we can all recycle better.
Most of us want to do the right thing, but recycling can be surprisingly confusing. Do yoghurt pots go straight in the bin? Should packaging be washed first? Can lids stay on bottles? And does everything we carefully separate actually get recycled?
Fronted by Consumer Editor, Chris Choi, we’re looking for neighbouring households who are interested in exploring their recycling habits and sharing their honest experiences on camera.
You don’t need to be perfect recyclers. In fact, you may be confused about what you are recycling or somewhat cynical about where you think it is ending up. This programme sets out to get the answers.
Taking part could involve:
* Looking at how your family/household currently recycles* Trying some simple ways to recycle more effectively* Learning what can and can’t go in your recycling bins* Sharing your questions, thoughts and reactions* Discovering what happens to your recycling – and how much may be being sent to landfill
Filming would take place for half a day, at a time that work for you and your neighbours.
If your household or street would like to take part, we’d love to hear from you. Please email: itvtonightstories@itn.co.uk
