Thank you for visiting this webpage which is all about This Morning’s Pup Idol Competition 2025 (the “Competition”), a competition for your dog to win a walk on role in Coronation Street (the “Prize”).
Here, we tell you how we process your personal information for the purposes of the Prize, the eligibility criteria, the terms and conditions and how to submit your nomination for the Prize.

First off, let’s tell you how we intend to collect and process your personal information.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Opening/closing date & time:
Nomination period opens for entries via email on Monday 14 July 2025 at the time announced in the This Morning programme (the “Programme”) and/or as published online at www.itv.com/thismorning (the “Website’).
Nomination period closes at 12.30pm on Friday 25 July 2025.
Who can enter:
The individual nominating the dog (the “Owner”), and the dog nominated by an Owner (“Dog”) must meet the following eligibility criteria:
The Owner must be a UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man resident aged 18 years or over;
The Owner must be the registered owner of the Dog and must be able to provide proof of this via a dog chip or veterinary registration;
Owners must not be employed or engaged by the Promoter, companies within the ITV group of companies, STV Group PLC or are an immediate family member of the same (including any live-in partner and not in any way or professionally connected with the Prize Draw; and
By nominating your Dog, you agree that you and your Dog will be available on: (i) three (3) occasions between 28 July 2025 and 19 September 2025 (such dates and times to be notified by the Promoter if you are the Owner of a Shortlisted Dog (defined below)) to film content for the Programme; (ii) the week commencing 22 September 2025 to appear in the Programme studio in London (such dates and times to be notified by the Promoter if you are a Finalist (defined below)); and (iii) one (1) day of filming on the Coronation Street set in Manchester between 22 September 2025 and 31 December 2025 (such dates and times to be notified by the Promoter if you are the Owner of the Winning Dog). By entering this Competition, Owners agree that both they and their Dog will take part in any filming, broadcast and publicity related to the Prize.
Any criminal convictions, civil orders and/or current or pending criminal proceedings and/or anything else negative in the Owner’s background (which is disclosed to us or we discover) will not automatically exclude the Dog from being considered for the Prize but we shall exercise our sole discretion. If we later discover this information has been withheld from us, we may withdraw the Dog from the Prize. You must also notify us of any adverse behavioural issues or conditions relating to your dog. This will not automatically exclude the Dog from being considered for the Prize but we shall exercise our sole discretion. In all cases our decision shall be final.
Proof of eligibility may be required. Failure to comply with the eligibility criteria as set out in these terms and conditions, and elsewhere as applicable or failure to comply with instructions and/or directions given or with these terms and conditions in any way may result in disqualification of the Owner and their Dog from the Competition. For the avoidance of doubt, if the Promoter suspects that a Owner and/or Dog is not eligible to participate in this Competition, the Promoter reserves the right to terminate or suspend their further participation. The Owner must comply with any instructions and/or directions as given to them by the Promoter, their subcontractors and agents including without limitation in conformity with the Ofcom Broadcasting Code and all applicable rules, laws, regulations and guidelines.
How to enter:
The Owner must nominate and provide details of their Dog and why they believe it deserves to win Pup Idol.
To make a nomination, send an email to thismorning@itv.com with ‘Pup Idol/This Morning’ in the subject line and the following information in the body of the email:
Your name and telephone number;
The name, age and breed of your Dog;
A video of your Dog, up to sixty (60) seconds in length, in colour, and in JPEG format up to 10MB in size. Please note that it is our preference that you do not include any individuals in the video; and
A description (to be no greater than 250 words) outlining why your Dog should be awarded the ‘Pup Idol’ Prize, bearing in mind the Finalist Selection Criteria (defined below),
together the (“Shortlist Selection Criteria”).
Any entry which is more than 250 words may not be considered or, at the producers’ discretion, only the first 250 words of the entry may be considered.

An Owner can only nominate one (1) dog and the Owner must be the registered owner of the dog that they have nominated (via a dog chip or veterinary registration). Nominations via email are free except for any internet service providers’ charges which may apply.
Participation in the Competition:
By submitting a nomination to thismorning@itv.com, you agree the following:
you acknowledge that you are aged 18 or over;
you acknowledge that you are the registered owner of the Dog;
you have read and accept:
the General Participation Terms and Conditions: https://www.itv.com/terms/participation-charity/itv-general-participation-terms;
these This Morning Pup Idol Prize terms and conditions;
that the Promoter may contact you in relation to such nomination;
you may be contacted by the producers, and that you and/or your Dog may be required for filming purposes and/or other appearances at any time for simultaneous or later broadcast in any media. You also agree that your entry may be published by the Promoter in all media, adapted, in whole or in part, or otherwise exploited in any manner, including but not limited to publication on any website and/or in the Programme in the Promoter’s sole discretion and you hereby waive all moral and similar rights in your entry to the fullest extent possible. You acknowledge that neither you nor your Dog will receive any fee or royalty payment from the Promoter, producers or any third party for the consents and grants given by you in relation to your entry;
you are the person who took the video you are entering, or you have the permission of the person who took the video to submit the video as part of the nomination;
you do not submit any material which in any way infringes the copyright or other rights of a third party, or which infringes any applicable laws. You hereby waive all moral and similar rights in your entry to the fullest extent possible and acknowledge that you will not receive any fee or royalty payment from the Promoter, producers or any third party for the consents and grants given by you in relation to your entry;
that nothing in your entry or the materials you submit will infringe any data protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the UK Data Protection Act 2018 (both as amended, replaced or repealed from time to time); and
your entry does not contain any material which is in any way defamatory, obscene, unlawful, harmful, offensive or inappropriate or may have the effect of being harassing, threatening, abusive or hateful or that otherwise degrades or intimidates an individual or group of individuals on the basis of religion, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age or disability or which refers directly or indirectly to alcohol or intoxication and must not infringe third party rights (for example, by including third party branding). Any such entry will be deemed inappropriate and will not be considered.
By participating in any filming or live performances on the Programme, the Owner agrees that such footage may be published or broadcast in any media in whole or in part by the Promoter including without limitation the Programme. The Owner may be required to fill in and sign a participation form, requesting the individuals to assign their rights in any film or live performance in which they have been involved in respect of the Competition and/or the Programme. Failure of the Owner to sign the participation form may result in the disqualification of the Dog from the Competition.
Selection process:
Owners must be contactable by phone and/or email within seven (7) days following the closing of the nomination period.
The producers of the Programme will review all eligible entries against the Shortlist Selection Criteria and will select a shortlist of up to ten (10) Dogs (“Shortlisted Dogs”) to participate in three (3) filming days which will include the Shortlisted Dogs participating in tasks such as a dog agility course, an acting lesson, grooming, etc (“Tasks”).
The producers’ selection of the Shortlisted Dogs will be at their sole discretion and will be final.
Owners of the Shortlisted Dogs will be contacted for confirmation of eligibility, compliance with the entry criteria and availability on the dates required. Failure to comply with any criteria or failure to confirm availability on the dates required may result in disqualification of the Shortlisted Dog and another Dog being selected by the producers from the eligible entries.
The filming days for the Tasks will take place between 28 July 2025 and 19 September 2025 and will include the following for the Owner and their Shortlisted Dog:
return travel from their town/city of residence to the filming location confirmed by the Promoter. Travel consists of standard class return rail travel to the relevant filming location from the nearest UK mainland train station to the home address of the Owner, or if based in the Isle of Man, Northern Island or the Channel Islands, return economy flights to an airport close to the filming location (such airports to be determined by the Promoter);
hotel accommodation on the relevant filming date;
dinner allowance up to £25 (twenty-five pounds) at the hotel accommodation; and
return transportation between the hotel and the filming location on the relevant filming date
(“Filming Expenses”).
All costs and expenses not listed as Filming Expenses are the sole responsibility of the Owners of the Shortlisted Dogs.
It is the responsibility of the Owners of the Shortlisted Dogs to inform the Promoter of any dietary requirements prior to attending any filming dates. It is the responsibility of the Owners to pay for meals and drinks (other than those stated in these terms and conditions), any additional hotel charges, room service, mini-bar goods, souvenirs, telephone calls, excursions, treatments, additional travel and accommodation, taxes, insurance and any other expenses which may be incurred when attending the relevant filming dates and the Promoter is not responsible or liable to refund any such expenses.
It is the responsibility of the Owners of the Shortlisted Dogs to inform the Promoter of any wheelchair or similar access requirements they may have and to adhere to any applicable health and safety guidelines.
Please note that the Owners of the Shortlisted Dogs will need a current and valid credit/debit card with sufficient available funds in order to check in at any hotel for security deposit purposes.
Following the shortlisting stage, the producers of the Programme use the videos of the Tasks to select three (3) Dogs from the Shortlisted Dogs that they consider best meet the following “Finalist Selection Criteria and these will proceed to the final (each a “Finalist”):
obedience;
behaviour;
temperament;
ability to follow instructions / commands;
are they too easily distracted; and
if they have a unique selling point / special skill or trick.
Each Finalist’s entry will be assessed by a judging panel, consisting of Jodie Prenger, Shirley Ballas, Dr Scott Miller and Sharon Marshall and/or such other panellists as may be communicated (the “Judging Panel”). The Judging Panel will select the winning dog, based on the Initial Selection Criteria and the Finalist Selection Criteria (“Winning Dog”). The Judging Panel’s selection of the Winning Dog will be at their sole discretion and will be final.
Finalists and their Owners will be required to appear on the Programme on one (1) day on the week commencing Monday 22 September 2025 in London where the Winning Dog will be revealed either live on air or as a pre-recoded VT. Owners of Finalists will be given the Filming Expenses as art of their appearance on the Programme. If an Owner cannot attend the filming date with their Finalist Dog, this may result in disqualification of the Finalist Dog and another Dog being selected by the producers from the eligible entries.
If selected as the Winning Dog, the Owner and their Dog must be available to travel to the Coronation Street set in Manchester set on a date before 31 December 2025, as set by the Promoter, to film the Prize (“Winner Filming”).
Prize:
The Winning Dog will be invited to participate in a walk on role in Coronation Street, on a date to be decided between the Promoter and the Owner. The Prize must be undertaken by 31 December 2025.
Please note that attendance will be for the Owner of the Winning Dog and the Winning Dog only and no guest(s) will be permitted to attend, unless disabled support is required.
The prize excludes hotel accommodation, meals and drinks, transportation, car hire, travel insurance and personal expenses except for the following:
return travel for the Owner of the Winning Dog and the Winning Dog from their town/city of residence to the Coronation Street set, located in Manchester and back to their respective town/city for the Winner Filming. Travel consists of standard class return rail travel to Manchester from the nearest UK mainland train station to the home address of the Owner, or if based in the Isle of Man, Northern Island or the Channel Islands, return economy flights to Manchester (airports to be determined by the Promoter);
hotel accommodation for the Owner of the Winning Dog and the Winning Dog on the Winner Filming date;
dinner allowance up to £25 (twenty-five pounds) at the hotel accommodation; and
return transportation between the hotel and the Coronation Street set for the Owner on the Winner Filming date.
