Social Purpose
ITV Social Purpose
Our Social Purpose at ITV is to shape culture for good. We’re changing ITV for the better and using our content and reach to inspire positive change for audiences, the industry and beyond. ITV’s Social Purpose agenda focuses on four key areas: Climate Action, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Mental Wellbeing and Better Futures.
Climate Action
Making shows with the biggest impact on audiences and the smallest impact on the planet.
At ITV, we are committed to reducing environmental impacts across all our shows and ensuring sustainability is front-of-mind throughout production. To simplify your compliance and planning, use the Sustainability Handbook for ITV Commissions as your primary resource for all production standards.
Sustainability Handbook for ITV Commissions
Why use this handbook?
ITV Producer Portal submissions: Get step-by-step instructions to effortlessly answer sustainability questions for pre-production and final delivery.
Your go-to best practice guide: Access clear, actionable guidelines on clean power, low-carbon travel, zero-waste catering and on-screen climate storytelling.
Ensure Albert compliance: Navigate the new BAFTA Albert toolkit and easily secure required transmission logos.
Please contact ITV’s Sustainability Team at climateaction@itv.com if you have any questions relating to on- or off-screen sustainability. For BAFTA Albert-specific questions, please contact albert@bafta.org.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
ITV’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy aims to ensure our content is made with, by and for everyone. By showcasing diversity through our mainstream content, we are aiming to create opportunities and create an inclusive culture on our programmes and at ITV. More information on our Diversity Acceleration Plan and resources to support our Producers is on our website.
Producers are being asked to help us achieve these aims and below we have listed the various ways that you can support us in achieving our strategy and making all our programmes inclusive for all.
Diversity Commissioning Spend
ITV launched an £80 million Diversity Commissioning Spend in 2022, to change how and who tells our stories. This was renewed in 2025 for a further three years. If you think your programme might qualify for this, please speak to your Commissioning Editor.

TV Access Project
ITV is a member of the TV Access Project (TAP) working towards full inclusion for Disabled people by 2030. We expect every Producer who is commissioned by ITV to be considering accessibility from the beginning of the production process by adopting the 5 A’s, ensuring you are budgeting for accessibility and working in a production space that has completed the TV Access Project's Accessibility Audit.

Creative Industries Independent Standards Authority
The Creative Industries Independent Standards Authority (CIISA) has been established to uphold and improve standards of behaviour across the creative industries, and to prevent and tackle all forms of bullying and harassment, including behaviour of a discriminatory nature. ITV is a proud supporter of CIISA and the implementation of their Standards Framework and expects all Producers and Third Parties to proactively comply with the standards to create consistently safe and inclusive workplaces.
